Just a quick note today as I just want to get this page posted before bedtime!
This is where our Lenore story really comes to a head! If you can't work out what Sarah has spotted then you'll find out next week anyway!

Out of interest, this setting I used as a prequel to the finale does exist and it's really just fate that the story centres here because it was never originally planned that way. When it came time to draw the pages where Lucy, Laura and Sarah meet up for a chat I wanted somewhere new to play with artwise and first thought drinks at a pub and then of a local one to me, the Barge at Battlesbridge in Essex. It also occurred to me that I could use the antiques centre and river etc. as a backdrop if I wanted more interesting views. But the really beautiful thing about this place is that besides having a nest of antique shops both inside and around the mill, it also has one of the weirdest shop/museums I've ever come across, a sort of museum of the macabre called ‘The Fifth Corner’. When I first walked into the shop last summer there was an enormous stuffed crow sitting on the counter which was a bit of an omen as I'd been doing the Carlingford Legend pages at the time as well. For the comic though I've created a similar but un-named shop inside the Mill along with an equally unrecognisable owner to avoid any publication problems in the future. Besides all that though you can see from this lovely photo here taken by Terry Joyce that the bridge, the pub, and the Mill on the river are all fairly accurately depicted in the comic just as they are in real life.

Have a nice week :)

Great backgrounds here. Especially the Tarot card poster of La Monde. That's from the Waite deck, I believe?

I think I see what Sare sees, but I'm keeping quiet as to not spoil any surprises ^_^

@kidcthulhu: It is La Monde fro sure and I'm sure you're right about the deck too although I didn't take much notice of where the ref came from, it just felt like the nicest image to use. :)

I'm sure you guessed right on the bottle too! ;)

I seen a building like that in the state I live in. If I can find a picture of it I will post a link.

Not exactly sure what she see's seen three possibilities jump out but don't think its any of the three.

Reply skyangel, July 21st, 2018, 4:08 am

@Dragonrider: You'll know now! ;)

Is this a flash back to #583? We'll see.

Fascinating how this is largely drawn from, and inspired by, real-life.

Reply skyangel, July 21st, 2018, 4:11 am

@Fruitbat44: Yes indeed! That is the very bottle we're now linking back to in our story so thanks for pointing that out. :)
And yes, I'm often amazed at how stories can write themselves. It was always scripted for Sarah to be prompted to think about that second bottle again but merely while discussing the legend with Janey over the phone, but as I say, when I started thinking about using this place for a reunion setting it became obvious this was really the ideal place for it to happen and it fits the flow of the story much nicer than the original script did. :)

Well, now that is wrapping up: when this started, my kids weren't even born. They are now 7 (they're twins).

They have grown up with this comic.

They have grown up with the idea that some girls like girls. So what? They don't have a problem with this. As long as it's not them. They're a bit too young for that yet.

You can enjoy art without seeing it as only sexual.

@ohanyname!: Quite right :)
