I realised during the week that there are only about 4 pages to go before we finish the chapter! As I said before we will have to have a short epilogue which will probably be between 10-20 pages depending how on how evenly the remaining pages need to be paced but for now everything centres around this final meeting with Laura which is why I decided to give them a much nicer setting for the final scene. It's a pub close to where I live so easy enough to get nice refs and I much prefer open skies and countryside to closed in rooms anyway..and hair always moves more sexily in a breeze! ;)

Next week: Sarah and Laura go for a nice one to one together and Sarah finally gets a chance to hear Laura's perspective on what happened that
night at the construction yard!

Laura's pallor is really obvious here compared to the other ladies. She looks almost sickly. Very curious to see where exactly this all leads.

4 pages for this chapter and then another 10 or so? Wow, there's a lot more left than I thought ^_^

Your Barge Inn looks an awful lot like a brewery in New Hope, PA that I currently forget the name of because I haven't had my morning coffee yet.

@kidcthulhu: 'pallor' - that's Becky the colourist's choice, unless Sky specifically told her to colour her pale.

Britain and especially Ireland are usually cloudy, so people tend to be quite pale - unless they deliberately tan themselves with a sunbed or a visit to sunnier climes. Even in NJ you will get more than twice as many hours of sunlight per year as Sky in Essex. I wouldn't consider Laura especially pale.

I haven't been to Essex in ages, except at 225 km/h on the train in to London - I'd forgotten how pretty parts of it are, and still unspoiled, even though it's so close to London.

@kidcthulhu: I can't answer for Becky on that one but I do know she likes to give everyone their own custom tint no matter how close they may resemble each other, so that's probably part of her design. I've always found it hard to calculate the page numbers as I work to a series of small notelet type prompts on my timeline and sometimes I can get 4-5 on one page whereas others expand over two pages. I'm hoping to really tie it down when this part finishes! :)

@kidcthulhu: I said the same thing to Sky about Laura! It was a happy accident really. I'd always colored Laura very pale, and when this part of the story came about I figured it worked out nicely since Laura had been used/abused and frightened so that made me imagine her having a bit of a sickly look. Sky says I overthink though :D but actually I'm thrilled you noticed!

Hang on. The Barge Inn? If that's the one I'm thinking of (and it looks a lot like it) then I only live about half an hours drive from it. Lovely pub.

@Lordcholmondlywarner: My cousin used to live in Colne Engaine, now she lives in Halstead, so I know Essex reasonably well, and one of the joys of S_S is recognising the Essex milieu in which the comic takes place. Some frames you can look up on Google streetview and compare the frame with the photograph.

@Lordcholmondlywarner: It's in a place called Battlesbridge which is about a half hours drive from our house too.

What would I do if I was her.

Reply skyangel, June 2nd, 2018, 6:15 am

@MichaelHartman: lol I don't know! ;)

Just like Sare! She's been brooding for who knows how long but she can't help being empathetic (and curious as always) when she actually meets Laura :)

I can't imagine how Nikki feels about all this though. It might be a little awkward sitting there when she's not really a part of this lovers' triangle. And having had a crush on Sarah for the longest time can't make it easier.

Reply skyangel, June 2nd, 2018, 6:17 am

@Legerdimain: I always feel for Nikki as she's such a loyal friend and yet spends much of her time helping sarah with her problems when she must clearly ahve a lot of her own too. It's something I intend to focus on more in the last part at least.

Well this is interesting. Sometimes silences speak volumes. And I suspect the quiet walk will very interesting for Sarah & Laura.

Oh, and I would not be the slightest bit surprised if Ron had told Lucy a very heavily edited version of events. -grr-

Oh, and for some reason Laura's speech bubble of "?" makes me smile.

Reply skyangel, June 2nd, 2018, 6:20 am

@Fruitbat44: Yes, as always you're pretty spot on about Ron's version of the truth. As for the question mark, it seemed odd putting it in a thought bubble for some reason as this is always witnessed through Sarah's eyes. I though 'huh?' seemed a bit to dramatic so decided to leave it with the readers own imagination instead lol
